The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

Sensor cover may crack on the machines listed above. The failure is due to the unanticipated loading on the cover.

Solution

Caterpillar is aware of this problem, but an interim repair has not been defined. In the event of failure, replace the failed 456-7948 Cover with the same new part.

Create a Service Information Management System (SIMS) entry for the failed component to generate a "Send-It-Back" (SIB) request. An SIB request will be issued through the SIB process after the SIMS entry is created. Submit the failed component along with any other available information to SIMS referencing the CPI number.
