  1. Attach the final drive to Tooling (A) or suitable fixture. The weight of the final drive is approximately 54 kg (119 lb).

  2. Remove plug (1).

    Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.

    Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.

    Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.


  3. Use Tooling (B) to remove retaining ring (2).

  4. Remove plate (3).

    Note: Note the orientation of springs (4) for assembly purposes.

  5. Remove springs (4).

  6. Attach Tooling (C) to the final drive. Use air pressure to unseat piston (5). Remove Tooling (C) and piston (5).

  7. Remove coupling (6).

  8. Remove O-ring seals (7) and (8).

  9. Remove friction discs (9) and plates (10).

  10. Invert the final drive. Remove plugs (11) and the O-ring seals.

  11. Remove retaining ring (12) and cover (13).

  12. Remove O-ring seal (14).

  13. Remove planetary carrier assembly (15).

  14. Remove bolts (16) from planetary retainer (17).

  15. Place the final drive in a suitable press. The weight of the final drive is approximately 45 kg (100 lb). Use Tooling (D) and a suitable press to remove planetary retainer (17).

  16. Use Tooling (D) and a suitable press to remove hub (19) from housing (18). The weight of hub (19) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).

  17. Use Tooling (D), (E), and a suitable press to remove bearing cone (20) from hub (19).

  18. Remove top half of Duo Cone seal (21) from hub (19).

  19. Remove O-ring seal (22) from top half of Duo Cone seal (21).

  20. Remove lower half of Duo Cone seal (23) from hub (19).

  21. Remove O-ring seal (24) from lower half of Duo Cone seal (23).

  22. Reposition bearing cone (25) to allow access to bearing cup (26). Remove bearing cup (26) from the housing.

  23. Invert housing (18). Remove retaining ring (27) and spacer (28).

  24. Invert the housing . Reposition bearing cone (25) to allow access to bearing cup (29). Remove bearing cup (29) and bearing cone (25).
