1. Install retaining ring (23) onto planetary gear assembly (20).

2. Use a suitable press and Tooling (C) to install two bearings (22) into planetary gear assembly (20).

3. Install bearing race (21) into planetary gear assembly (20).

4. Raise temperature of planetary gear assembly (20) to a temperature of 149° C (300° F). Install planetary gear assembly (20) into carrier assembly (12). Install pin (19).

5. Repeat step 1 through step 4 for the remaining planetary gear assemblies.

6. Install thrust washer (18).

7. Install sun gear (17) and thrust washer (16).

8. Install plate (14). Apply Tooling (D) to the threads of eight bolts (15). Install bolts (15).

9. Install Tooling (B) onto carrier group (12) and attach a suitable lifting device. The weight of carrier group (12) is approximately 324 kg (715 lb). Use a suitable lifting device to invert carrier group (12).

10. Install bearing (13) onto carrier group (12).

11. Install bearing cup (11) onto housing (8).

12. Install Tooling (A) and attach a suitable lifting device to housing (8). The weight of housing (8) is approximately 227 kg (500 lb). Invert housing (8).

13. Install seal (9) and bearing cup (10).

14. Install bearing (7) into housing (8).

15. Install Tooling (A) and attach a suitable lifting device to housing (8). The combined weight of housing (8) and bearing (7) is approximately 245 kg (540 lb). Install housing (8) and bearing (7) as an assembly.

16. Attach a suitable lifting device to sprocket (6). The weight of sprocket (6) is approximately 94 kg (207 lb). Install sprocket (6).

17. Attach a suitable lifting device to sprocket (5). The weight of sprocket (5) is approximately 94 kg (207 lb). Install sprocket (5).

18. Install adjusting ring (4).

    Note: Notice alignment of torque wrench (F).

19. Attach a suitable lifting device to the final drive assembly. The weight of the final drive assembly is approximately 757 kg (1669 lb). Install the final drive assembly onto Tooling (E).

    Install a bolt into the face of the shaft.

    Attach torque wrench (F) to the bolt of the final drive assembly. The torque wrench (F) must be parallel to centerline of the final drive assembly and perpendicular to the bolt.

20. Advance adjusting ring (4).

    Rotate the final drive four rotations.

21. Repeat step 20 until a rolling torque of 30 ± 15 N·m (266 ± 133 lb in) is achieved.

22. Install lock (1) onto final drive assembly (3). Install two bolts (2) and the washers.
