Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the final drive.

1. Remove two bolts (2) and the washers. Remove lock (1) from final drive assembly (3).

2. Remove adjusting ring (4).

3. Attach a suitable lifting device to sprocket (5). The weight of sprocket (5) is approximately 94 kg (207 lb). Remove sprocket (5).

4. Attach a suitable lifting device to sprocket (6). The weight of sprocket (6) is approximately 94 kg (207 lb). Remove sprocket (6).

5. Install Tooling (A) and attach a suitable lifting device to housing (8). The combined weight of housing (8) and bearing (7) is approximately 245 kg (540 lb). Remove housing (8) and bearing (7) as an assembly, and place onto suitable cribbing.

6. Remove bearing (7) from housing (8).

7. Remove seal (9) and bearing cup (10).

8. Install Tooling (A) and attach a suitable lifting device to housing (8). The weight of housing (8) is approximately 227 kg (500 lb). Invert housing (8).

9. Remove bearing cup (11) from housing (8).

10. Remove bearing (13) from carrier assembly (12).
    Show/hide table

11. Install Tooling (B) onto carrier assembly (12) and attach a suitable lifting device. The weight of carrier group (12) is approximately 324 kg (715 lb). Use a suitable lifting device to invert carrier assembly (12).

12. Remove eight bolts (15) and plate (14).

13. Remove thrust washer (16) and sun gear (17).
    Show/hide table

14. Remove thrust washer (18).

15. Install Tooling (B) onto carrier group (12). Use suitable press to remove pin (19).

16. Remove planetary gear assembly (20) from carrier assembly (12).

17. Remove bearing race (21) from planetary gear assembly (20).
    Show/hide table

18. Remove two bearings (22) from planetary gear assembly (20).

19. Remove retaining ring (23) from planetary gear assembly (20).

20. Repeat step 15 through step 19 for the remaining planetary gear assemblies.
