Installation Procedure for the Fire Extinguisher in the Cab Is Now Available on Certain Telehandlers {7301}

The fire extinguisher JLG part number 1001099699 has the following specifications:

  • 2.5 lb agent capacity dry chemical 10B:C

  • Dimensions 3-3/8 inch diameter x 4-8/7 inch width x 14- 3/4 inch height

  • Vehicle bracket included

Vehicle mounting bracket replacement is JLG part number 1001100082.

Note: No other mounting locations or fire extinguishers are authorized.

Machine Preparation

  1. Park the machine on a firm and level surface.

  2. Fully retract the boom.

  3. Place the transmission in NEUTRAL position and engage the parking brake.

  4. Turn the machine OFF position and place a "Do Not Operate" tag on the ignition key switch and the steering wheel.

  5. Open the engine cover and allow the system fluids to cool.

  6. Properly disconnect the battery. Refer to appropriate service manual for detailed battery disconnect/connect instructions.

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Remove the hardware and the access cover plate (A) from the cab. Retain the hardware.

  1. Mark the location of mounting hole as shown in Illustration 2.

  2. Drill the holes ( 5.5 mm (0.217 inch)) on the left side of the seat riser weldment (B). De-burr the holes.

  3. Clean and prime the affected area.

  4. Paint the affected area.

  5. Install the mounting bracket (C) of the fire extinguisher assembly on the left side of the seat riser weldment (B) with the bolts (3), washers (2) and nuts (1).

  6. Install the fire extinguisher assembly (4) on the mounting bracket (C) and secure with the clamp as shown in Illustration 4.

  7. Reinstall the access cover plate (A) with existing hardware on the cab that were removed in Step 1. Refer to Illustration 1.

  8. Properly connect the battery. Refer to the appropriate Service Manual for the detailed battery disconnect/connect instructions.

  9. Close and secure the engine cover.

  10. Remove the "Do Not Operate" tag from both the ignition key switch and the steering wheel.

  11. Return the machine to service.
