Problem
Customer Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems are not able to communicate with Cat® Product Link Elite (PLE601) network managers after updating to 2017A or newer firmware. Changes in the way communication protocols are handled now requires configuration files in order for Caterpillar telematics to communicate with third-party PLC devices.
Solution
Caterpillar is aware of this problem, but a permanent repair has not been defined. Customers facing this issue can have a configuration made to communicate with Allen Bradley controller tags by creating a Global Dealer Solution Network (DSN) service request
Create a GDSN Product Health service request (SR) with priority of "Product Inquiry / Informational". Add the information mentioned below for the Product Groups. Mention the CPI number 401863 to the CPI field (and/or) mention the TIB media number in the description or title (searchable fields). Then close the service request at the dealership without submitting to Caterpillar. This will alert the CPI Team that you have documented this issue in PSCRM.
