The Autonomous Stop (A-Stop) system provides an independent means of stopping Command machines remotely. A-Stop is accomplished by the use of a receiver onboard the Command machine, and a handheld transmitter. The handheld transmitter is carried by the personnel working in areas where Command machines are present. The A-Stop system is not required for use on remote controlled machines. By activating an "A-Stop" on the transmitter, any machine that is in range and equipped with an A-Stop receiver system will come to a controlled stop.
Note: An active A-Stop system causes a complete halt of autonomous operation and remote control of Command machines. Manual control is possible after placing a machine in Manual or Manual Override mode.
The machine notifies the office software that it has stopped due to an A-Stop activation.

The A-Stop devices will cause any Command machine with an A-Stop receiver system to come to a controlled stop. The A-Stop will stop any equipped machine unless the machine is being operated in manual mode with an operator in the cab. Also, the red indicator light will flash on a machine that has been stopped by the A-Stop system. |
The A-Stop system is used to stop Command machines equipped with the A-Stop system in the area local to the active handheld A-Stop transmitter during emergency or unplanned need. The system sends a radio signal to all the Command machines with A-Stop receivers within the operating range of the handheld transmitter. The communications of the A-Stop system operates independently from the normal command system. The A-Stop system can be used even if Cat® MineStar system cannot communicate with the autonomous machine.
Each person working in the area of autonomous operation shall be issued an A-Stop transmitter. Persons working in the area of autonomous operation is required to carry the transmitter whenever inside the autonomous operating zone. Persons working in the area of remote control machines are also recommended to carry the transmitter, if the remote control machines are equipped with the A-Stop system.
The Command machine will remain at a stop until it receives a "Clear" signal from the A-Stop transmitter that originally signaled the stop and the user lock has been removed.
