Safety Pin Assembly May Foul with Main Frame on Certain 424B Backhoe Loaders{6118, 6119} Caterpillar

Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

Reports have been received from the field that, the 132-6496 Pin As for safety strut is fouling with main frame on the machines listed above.

Solution

Caterpillar is aware of this problem, and is recommending the following Interim Corrective action.

Repair procedure

1. Remove safety bracket mounting 132-6496 Pin As from 231-3643 Arm Gp-Lift .

2. Place 9R-0109 Washer (1) (3mm) in between pin and safety bracket.

3. Assemble pin (A) between the lift arm and lift cylinder. Secure pin using 6V-8144 Retaining Ring .

4. Check for the ply between safety bracket and lift arm.
