Removal Procedure

Cylinders equipped with lock valves can remain pressurized for very long periods of time, even with the hoses removed. Failure to relieve pressure before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder can result in personal injury or death. Ensure all pressure is relieved before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder.

1. Lower stabilizer pad (1). Remove cover (2).

2. Release the system pressure.

3. Disconnect tube assemblies (3).

4. Remove bolts (4), plate (5), and insert (6). Remove wear pads (7).

5. Remove retaining ring (8). Remove pin (9).

6. Remove pin (11) and spacers (10).

7. Use a suitable lifting device and lifting sling, remove stabilizer cylinder (12). The weight of stabilizer cylinder (12) is approximately 32 kg (71 lb).

Installation Procedure

1. Install stabilizer cylinder (12) in the reverse order of removal.

   1. Adjust insert (6) as required to obtain a 1.0 mm (0.04 inch) maximum gap per side between the inner leg and the pad at four places.

Disassembly and Assembly

(1) Lubricate lip seals with hydraulic oil.

(2) Use Tooling (D) in order to tighten piston to a torque of approximately 450 ± 25 N·m (332 ± 18 lb ft).

(3) Use Tooling (D) in order to tighten head to a torque of approximately 600 ± 130 N·m (443 ± 96 lb ft).

(4) Apply Tooling (C) to the threads prior to assembly.

(5) Tighten setscrews to a torque of 23 ± 3 N·m (204± 27lb in).
