Introduction
A closed crankcase breather cold-weather kit is available, and is required for areas where the machines will be operating in ambient temperatures below
This Special Instruction provides the procedure to install the 466-1959 Cover Kit (CCV Heater Kit), which is the addition of a second heater. The heater is installed in the outlet of the crankcase breather hose to ensure that moisture does not condense and freeze when reaching the intake air at the turbocharger inlet.
Note: The rear door covers are also required in temperatures of
- For sales models 236D, 242D, 257D, and 259D the rear door cover is 452-2243 Cover Kit. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS8736, "Installing the Winter Cover Kit"
- For sales models 246D, 262D, 277D, 279D, 287D, and 289D the rear door cover is 452-0239 Cover Kit. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS8737, "Installing the 452-0239 Winter Cover Kit".
Note: The rear door cover must be removed under the following conditions:
- The ambient temperatures are above
−15° C (5° F) - The engine temperature gauge indicates overheating
- The hydraulic oil temperature gauge indicates overheating
Note: 0W-40 engine oil is required. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual. Usage of a block heater and heavy-duty battery are also recommended.

Installation Procedure
- Remove existing hose (1), discard the hose and the two hose clamps.

Illustration 2 g03731458 - Install hose (2), heater (3), and hose (4) in place of the hose removed.
- Secure the new hoses and heater with hose clamps (5) and (6) at the locations shown in Illustration 2.
- Connect the harness to the in-line heater.
- Bundle and secure any excess harness. Ensure that the harness does not rub other engine components and is not in contact with the exhaust manifold.
