Position Sensor (Tilt Linkage) - Replace
This procedure is for Removing and Replacing the Position Sensor (Tilt Linkage).
Reference: For additional information about preparing the machine for troubleshooting the machine, refer to the Service Manual module Troubleshooting, "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting" for the machine that is being serviced.
- Tilt the bucket to a position level with the ground. Lower the bucket to the ground.
- Connect the steering frame lock link.
- Engage the parking brake.
- Stop the engine and leave the key start switch in the OFF position.

(1) Tilt linkage position sensor - Remove the outer cover plate. Disconnect the harness connector from the sensor connector.
- Remove the bracket from the lift arm crossmember.
- Remove the lever from the Tilt Linkage Position Sensor.
- Remove the Tilt Linkage Position Sensor from the bracket.

NOTICE The position sensor can be damaged if too much force is applied against the internal stops of the sensor. Be careful when removing the position sensor lever or rotating the shaft attached to the sensor.
- Install the new Tilt Linkage Position Sensor on the bracket.
- Install the lever on the new Tilt Linkage Position Sensor.
- Install the bracket on the lift arm crossmember.
- Connect the harness connector to the sensor connector. Install the outer cover plate.
- The Tilt Linkage Position Sensor must be calibrated before the machine is returned to use.
Reference: For the correct procedure in order to calibrate the Tilt Linkage Position Sensor, refer to Testing and Adjusting, KENR5566, "Calibrations (Cat ET)" for the correct calibration procedure.
