Position Sensor (Lift Linkage) - Replace

Usage:

972M XE AN3

Introduction

The following procedure is for Removing and Replacing the Position Sensor (Lift Linkage).

Test Preparation

Reference: For additional information about preparing the machine for troubleshooting the machine, refer to the Service Manual module Troubleshooting, "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting" for the machine that is being serviced.

Test Procedure

  1. Tilt the bucket to a position level with the ground. Lower the bucket to the ground.

  2. Connect the steering frame lock link.

  3. Engage the parking brake.

  4. Stop the engine and leave the key start switch in the OFF position.

    (1) Lift Linkage Position Sensor

  5. Disconnect the harness connector from the sensor connector.

  6. Remove the bracket from the frame.

  7. Remove the fork from the Lift Linkage Position Sensor.

  8. Remove the Lift Linkage Position Sensor from the bracket.

  9. Install the new Lift Linkage Position Sensor on the bracket.

  10. Install the fork on the new Lift Linkage Position Sensor.

  11. Install the bracket on the frame.

  12. Connect the harness connector to the sensor connector.

  13. The Lift Linkage Position Sensor must be calibrated before the machine is returned to use.

Adjustment Procedure

Reference: For the correct procedure in order to calibrate the Tilt Linkage Position Sensor, refer to Testing and Adjusting, KENR6488, "Calibrations (Cat ET)" for the correct calibration procedure.
