PROBLEM
The existing support assemblies can develop a fatigue crack on certain 777F and 777G Off-Highway Trucks. If the existing support assembly fails a fatigue crack will develop in the fillet weld toe at the D-ring plates. |

ACTION REQUIRED
Refer to the Service Manual if/as necessary and see Special Instruction SEHS0324 "Procedure to Repair the Center Tube Assembly on Certain 777 Off-Highway Trucks" for rework procedure. If a fatigue crack is present failure to adhere to rework procedure may result in a crack reoccurring. Provide a picture of any crack found with the following information: machine serial number, machine hours and identify crack as "left side crack" or "right side crack". E-mail information to obrien_todd@cat.com. If a horizontal or diagonal fatigue crack is found in the tube similar to as shown in Image 1 e-mail pictures to Product Support at obrien_todd@cat.com for further review. |

NOTE: This is a 10.0-hour job | ||||||
This is an 10 hour job, including time required for disassembly, TIG dress and reassembly. An additional 6 hours will be allowed to repair a single "partial through thickness" crack that is present in either of the outer D-ring welds in the support assembly. A maximum of 20 hours will be allowed if both outer D-ring welds require a "partial through thickness" repair. This includes the time required for disassembly, TIG dress and reassembly. An additional 25 hours will be allowed to repair a single "through thickness" crack that is present in either of the outer D-ring welds in the support assembly. A maximum of 60 hours will be allowed if both outer D-ring welds require a "through thickness" repair. This includes the time required for disassembly, TIG dress and reassembly. |
