The Air Inlet Tube Assembly May Fail on 770G and 772G Off-Highway Trucks{1051, 1054, 7452} Caterpillar

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Air intake tube assembly (1) may crack at the inlet air temperature sensor mounting. Cracks in the inlet air temperature sensor mounting area may result in contingent damage to the turbocharger and engine.

Solution

Caterpillar is aware of this problem, but an Interim Repair has not been identified. Remove the air intake tube and visually inspect for crack at outside. Check the inner side of the tube assembly with flash lamp at the sensor port location. If any cracks observed, replace the part under regular warranty. Also inspect the tube for any other cracks.
