Usage:
3116 (4KG, 1SK) Marine Engines
Description of Change: New tank assemblies are used in the expansion tank groups used with heat exchangers or keel coolers. The new tank assemblies include a new 13 psi cap. The former tank assemblies used a 7 psi cap. The new tank assemblies also include a threaded boss (1/4 inch-18 NPTF thread) that can be used to install a coolant level sensor. A new coolant recovery group is available for use with the tank assemblies that have the 13 psi cap.
Adaptable To: The new 1006171 Tank Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 7C3992 Tank Assembly in the 7C7031 Expansion Tank Group used with heat exchangers. The new 1006172 Tank Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 7E9224 Tank Assembly in the 7E9225 Expansion Tank Group used with keel coolers. The former tank assemblies are canceled.
The new 361865 Cap (13 psi) is adaptable as a replacement for the 068865 Cap (7 psi) used on the former tank assemblies. The new cap can be identified by its octagonal shape. The new cap is in effect with 3116 Marine Engine approximately 4KG1600. The new cap is adaptable to all earlier engines. The cap can be used with the coolant recovery group that follows.
The new 1029220 Coolant Recovery Group is adaptable to all cooling systems that include the 361865 Cap (13 psi). This group consist of one 1029223 Bottle, 200 cm (78.7 in) of 8C3681 Hose, and two 1P4278 Clamps.
The recovery group bottle must be mounted at a convenient location that is at or above the level of the radiator expansion tank. No more than 200 cm (78.7 in) of hose should be used between the expansion tank and the bottle.
