A new Engine Control Module (ECM) is now available for the Electronic Modular Control Panel (EMCP). The 8T9881 Control Group has been replaced by a 6V6153 Control Group. Service procedures for the 8T9881 Control Group still apply as shown in the referenced Service Manuals and Service Magazine Articles. If these procedures fail to resolve the problem, the 8T9881 Control Group should be replaced with the 6V6153 Control Group. A 7C9129 Film "ECM" will be required if the film is being replaced on the face of the ECM.
Improvements to the 6V6153 Control Group include the following:
-
- 1. The CPU circuit board was redesigned to introduce a ground plane for greater noise immunity.
- 2. The processor reset circuit is improved for high frequency conducted noise on the battery lines and for low battery voltage.
- 3. There is improved memory mapping of the EE PROM (non-volatile memory). It is now more difficult to scramble the memory.
