(1) Insulated screw

(2) Insulated screw

(3) Insulated screw

Insulated screws (1) and (2) fasten the field winding leads to the regulator. Insulated screw (3) fastens the "B+" terminal strap to the rectifier. Insulated screw (3) also fastens a capacitor lead to the rectifier. Carefully inspect all insulated screws. The insulated screws must not have ANY continuity with the fastened components. Damaged insulators or missing insulators can cause improper battery charging. Damaged insulators or missing insulators can also damage the internal components of the alternator.
