Usage:
Exciter Armature Removal And Installation
1. Remove the front bearing.
PREPARING TO REMOVE ARMATURE
1. Exciter housing. 2. Rear cover. 3. Bolt.
2. Remove the brush mounting assembly.
3. Remove the pulley.
ARMATURE REMOVED
4. Armature.
4. Install the spanner nut on the front of the shaft to protect the threads.
5. Place a piece of thin cardboard between the armature and poles to protect the windings.
6. Remove the bolts (3) that hold the rear cover (2) to the exciter housing (1).
7. Remove the armature (4) and rear cover from the exciter housing.
REMOVING REAR COVER
5. Bolt.
8. Remove the bolts (5) that secure the rear cover to the cap (6).
9. Remove the cover and spacer (9).
10. Bend the lock and remove the spanner nut (7).
REMOVING BEARING
6. Cap. 7. Nut. 8. Bearing. 9. Spacer.
11. Use an 8B7548 Push Puller, 8B7551 Bearing Pulling Attachment and 8B7560 Step Plate to pull the bearing (8) from the shaft.
12. Remove the shield (11) and cap (6).
13. The fan (10) can be removed by removing the screws that hold it to the armature.
NOTE: When installing the bearing, place the shielded side of the bearing toward the center of the exciter.
CAP AND FAN REMOVAL
10. Fan. 11. Shield
14. Install in the reverse order of removal.
NOTE: The rear bearing can be removed from the exciter without removing the armature by following Steps 3, 6 and 8 through 11.
