Usage:
Exciter Front Bearing Removal And Installation
1. Remove the bolts (3) and (1) that secure the front cover to the housing and to the brush holder cap and remove the cover (2).

2. Mark the cap (4) and brush holder (6) for correct positioning at installation.
3. Bend the lock (7) and remove the spanner nut (9).

4. Cap. 5. Locking nut. 6. Brush holder. 7. Lock. 8. Bearing. 9. Spanner nut.
4. Loosen the locking nut (5) and loosen the setscrew on all the brushes.
NOTE: Move the brush holder as far to the rear as possible to provide clearance for the bearing puller.
5. Using an 8B7548 Push Puller, 8B7551 Bearing Pulling Attachment and 8B7560 Step Plate, pull the bearing (8) from the shaft.

When removing the bearing from the shaft, be careful not to damage the shield behind the bearing. |
6. When installing the bearing, place the shielded side of the bearing toward the center of the exciter.
7. Inspect all parts for wear or damage and install in the reverse order of removal.
8. After installation, center the brushes on the commutator through the inspection openings in the front cover. See the topic, BRUSH MOUNTING.
