New Bolts Are Available for the Clutch Disc Inside the Torque Converter on Large Wheel Loaders, Landfill Compactors, and Wheel Dozers {3101}

New bolts are available for the clutch disc inside the torque converter on Large Wheel Loaders, Landfill Compactors, and Wheel Dozers. The new bolts provide increased thread engagement and clamping torque.

Replace the 2B-2695 Bolts (5/16-18) with 1A-2029 Bolts (3/8-16). Perform the following procedure in order to complete the rework.

  1. Enlarge the 12 6.8 mm (0.2677 inch) holes (1) to 8.2 mm (0.3228 inch) and drill the 12 holes to a depth of 27 mm (1.0630 inch).

  1. Tap the 12 holes (1) with a 3/8-16 THD tap.

  1. Enlarge the diameter of the 12 holes in 2P-9336 Clutch Disc Assembly (2) from 9 mm (0.3543 inch) to 10.5 mm (0.4134 inch).

  1. Install 12 new 1A-2029 Bolts (4) and 12 new 5M-2894 Hard Washers (3). Cross torque the bolts to 47 N·m (35 lb ft) and allow the bolts to relax. Then, check the bolt torques again.

  1. Rotate the impeller assembly after the new bolts have been installed. Check for interference with 6T-6778 Clutch Housing (5). Machine housing (5), if necessary.
