Introduction

The following procedure is written to update the Motor Graders that are listed above with the new air dryer. The dryer system will prevent moisture from collecting inside the air system. This dryer system will increase service life of seals in the air system.

Installation Procedure

This installation procedure will cover all the machines that are listed above. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Compressor" for the specific procedures for connecting the new hoses to the air compressor.

  1. Gain access to the service center to locate 247-8607 Plate (1) and holes (2).

    (4) 7D-4903 Adapter
    (5) 5P-4426 Air Brake Elbow
    (6) 5P-4401 Air Brake Connector
    (7) 5P-4426 Air Brake Elbow

  2. Install fittings (3), (4), (5), (6), and (7) into the 215-3005 Air Dryer Gp.

    (8) 177-0279 Hose As

  3. Assemble the 177-0279 Hose As (8) to the 7J-8611 Pipe Elbow (3).

    (11) 8T-4223 Hard Washers

  4. Attach the 215-3005 Air Dryer Gp (9) to the 247-8607 Plate. Use three 5P-2566 Bolts (10) and three 8T-4223 Hard Washers (11) to attach the dryer.

  5. Install plug (12) and air brake elbow (13) into the 191-3645 Reservoir.

  6. Attach the 191-3645 Reservoir (14) to the service center by using two 8T-4189 Bolts (15) and two 8T-4224 Hard Washers (16).

    (18) 6V-2610 Fitting

  7. Install a 6V-2610 Fitting (17) on the 205-7187 Governor (18). Assemble the 177-0279 Hose As (8) to the 205-7187 Governor (17).

  8. Remove the 2H-3940 Elbow and remove the hose that connects the elbow. Install a new 5P-4426 Air Brake Elbow (20) into the 209-9985 Air Tank (19).

  9. Assemble tubes (21), (22), and (23).

    Note: The 268-3456 Tube (22) will need to be installed to the 191-3645 Reservoir first.

  10. Attach the 208-1512 Tube As (23) with a 6K-8178 Clip (24). Use a 8T-4137 Bolt and a 8T-4121 Hard Washer to attach the clip to the block that is welded to the service center.

  11. Install the 216-7313 Hose As (25) to the air compressor and the 208-1512 Tube As.

  12. Cut 100 cm (39.37 inch) of 8I-1362 Hose (26). Install the hose to the exhaust port on the dryer (9). Refer to Illustration 12 for the correct location. Route coolant hose through the bottom of the service center. Attach the coolant hose to the right side of the service center with a 0A-3721 Clip (27). Refer to Illustration 13 for the correct location.

    (28) Receptacle

  13. The wire harness plug should already be installed onto the service center. Plug the loose end into the receptacle on the 215-3005 Air Dryer Gp (28).

  14. Ensure that a 9W-1442 Fuse is installed in the correct location. The fuse block is located in the steering column.
