Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Release the pressure in the hydraulic oil system. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release".

Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

1. Lower the bucket to the ground.

2. Remove bolts (1) and plate assembly (2) .

3. Use Tooling (A) in order to remove retaining ring (4). Remove tube assembly (3) .

4. Attach a suitable lifting device to tilt cylinder (5). The bucket linkage will be removed with tilt cylinder (5) as a unit. The combined weight of tilt cylinder (5) and the bucket linkage is approximately 158 kg (350 lb).

5. Use Tooling (A) in order to remove retaining rings (6) and (8). Remove pin assemblies (7) and (9) .

   Note: Note the number and the location of the shims for assembly purposes.

6. Use Tooling (B) and Tooling (C) in order to secure tilt cylinder (5) to the cab.

7. Attach Tooling (D) and a suitable lifting device to bucket (10). The weight of bucket (10) can be as much as 907 kg (2000 lb).

8. Use Tooling (A) in order to remove retaining rings (11). Remove pin assembly (12). Record the position of any shims that may be present. Repeat for the other side.

9. Remove bucket (10) .

   Note: If it is necessary to disassemble bucket (10), use Steps 10 through 11.

10. Disconnect hose assemblies (16), (17), (18), and (19). Remove clamps (13), (14), and (15). Remove hose assemblies (16), (17), (18), and (19) .

11. Use Tooling (E) in order to remove bearings (20) and (21) .

Installation Procedure

Note: If the bucket was disassembled, start with Steps 1 through 2. If the bucket was not disassembled, start with Step3.

1. Connect hose assemblies (16), (17), (18), and (19). Install clamps (13), (14), and (15) .

2. Lower the temperature of bearings (20) and (21). Use Tooling (F) in order to install bearings (20) and (21) .

3. Attach Tooling (D) and a suitable lifting device to bucket (10). The weight of bucket (10) can be as much as 907 kg (2000 lb). Install bucket (10) .

4. Install pin assembly (12). Install any shims that were removed in the removal procedure. Use Tooling (A) in order to install retaining ring (11). Repeat for the other side.

5. Attach a suitable lifting device to tilt cylinder (5). The combined weight of tilt cylinder (5) and the bucket linkage is approximately 158 kg (350 lb).

6. Remove Tooling (B) and Tooling (C) from tilt cylinder (5).

7. Install pin assemblies (7) and (9). Install any shims that were present during the removal procedure. Install the shims in order to obtain a maximum of 1.0 mm (0.04 inch) total clearance. Use Tooling (A) in order to install retaining rings (6) and (8).

8. Install tube assembly (3). Use Tooling (A) in order to install retaining ring (4).

9. Install plate assembly (2) and bolts (1) .
