Introduction

Hydraulic oil may be seeping from the oil seal in the hook and/or the boom winch. This is possibly caused by excessive flushing of oil that is routed to the winches. This Special Instruction contains the necessary procedures and information in order to increase the diameter of the hose on the bypass line from the distribution manifold.

Do not perform any procedures until you read the information and you understand the information that is contained in this manual. Do not order any parts until you read the information and you understand the information that is contained in this manual.

------ WARNING! ------

Do not attempt to assemble this machine until you read and you understand the assembly instructions.

Improper assembly procedures could result in injury or death.

----------------------

------ WARNING! ------

Do not allow any dirt or foreign material to get into the hydraulic system during assembly, connection of lines, when components are filled with fluid, or during any maintenance operation.

----------------------

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.
