Valves

Usage:

Remove And Install Valves

Start By:

a. remove cylinder head assembly

1. Use tool (A) to put valve springs (1) under compression.

2. Remove locks (2) from the valve stem.

3. Release the tension on springs (1) with tool (A), and remove tool (A), the rotocoil assembly, springs (1) and the washer from the valve stem and guide.

4. Remove the valves from the cylinder head.

NOTE: If the valves can be used again, put identification marks on them as to their location for installation purposes.

5. Check the valve spring force with tool (B). See the Specifications Manual for the correct spring force values.

6. Do Steps 1 through 5 again for the remainder of the valves.

NOTE: The following steps are for installation of the valves.

7. Put clean engine oil on the valve stem, and install the valve in the cylinder head.

8. Put the washer, inner spring, outer spring (1) and the rotocoil assembly over the valve stem and valve guide.

9. Put the valve springs under compression with tool (A), and install the locks.

------ WARNING! ------

The locks can be thrown from the valve when the spring compressor is released if they are not in their correct position on the valve stem. To prevent possible personal injury, be sure to stay away from in front of the valve retainer and springs.

--------WARNING!------

10. Remove tool (A) and hit the top of the valve with a plastic hammer to be sure the locks are in their correct position on the valve stem.

11. Do Steps 7 through 10 again for the remainder of valves.

a. install cylinder head assembly.
