Removal Procedure

Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.

1. Remove nut (1). Position clamp (2) out of the way.

2. Repeat Step 1 for the clamp on the other side of the engine.

3. Remove cover assembly (3).

4. Remove bolt (5). Position clamp (4) out of the way.

5. Remove bolt (7). Position clamp (6) out of the way.

6. Remove bolt (8). Position clamp (9) out of the way.

7. Attach a suitable lifting device to muffler (10). Remove straps (11). The weight of muffler (10) is approximately 41 kg (90 lb).

8. Raise muffler (10) slightly.

9. Remove tube assembly (12).

10. Repeat Step 9 for the remaining tube assembly.

11. Remove muffler (10).

Installation Procedure

1. Attach a suitable lifting device to muffler (10). Position muffler (10), as shown. The weight of muffler (10) is approximately 41 kg (90 lb).

2. Install tube assembly (12).

3. Repeat Step 2 for the remaining tube assembly.

4. Lower muffler (10) into position.

5. Position tube assembly (12). Apply Tooling (A) to nut (1). Install clamp (2) and nut (1).

6. Repeat Step 5 for remaining tube assembly.

7. Apply Tooling (A) to bolt (7). Position clamp (6). Install bolt (7).

8. Apply Tooling (A) to bolt (5). Position clamp (4). Install bolt (5).

9. Install straps (11). Remove the lifting device from muffler (10).

10. Apply Tooling (A) to bolt (8). Position clamp (9). Install bolt (8).

11. Install cover assembly (3).
