Description of Change: New software prevents a premature warning that the hydraulic oil temperature is high. The warning appears on the monitoring system display when the hydraulic oil temperature is 80 °C (176 °F). The temperature of the hydraulic oil is not considered excessive at 80 °C (176 °F) for a machine and bucket configuration. Various work tools may have different specifications for the hydraulic oil temperature.
New software also prevents the monitoring system display from instructing the operator to set the minimum fan speed at 400 rpm during the calibration of the fan speed. The machine arrangement for the fan cannot deliver a speed of 400 rpm. The completion of the instruction is impossible.
Adaptable To: Flash new software in the Electronic Control Module (ECM) if you receive a warning that the hydraulic oil temperature is high. Refer to Table 1 for the part number of the software for your machine. The new software and the change of the default setting for the machine application will prevent the premature warning that the hydraulic oil temperature is high.
Note: Change the default setting for the machine application after the new software is installed. Change the default setting from "TOOL #01" to "BUCKET/NO TOOL" for a machine and bucket configuration.Flash new software in the Electronic Control Module (ECM) if you receive a message that suggests an impossible setting for the fan speed. Refer to Table 1 for the part number of the software for your machine. The new software will provide instructions for a setting that is possible.
The new software that is listed in Table 1 is available in the form of a flash file through Caterpillar Service Information System (SIS).
