Center Console

(1) Operator station selector switch

(2) Screed counterbalance switch

Operator station selector switch (1) is located on the center console. This two-position toggle switch provides input in order to operate the machine ECM. The machine ECM uses the input from this switch to control the operator station relays.

When operator station selector switch (1) is in left position, the operator station relays are de-energized, and the operator controls on the left operator station are active. When the switch is in the right position, the operator station relays are energized, and the operator controls on the right operator station are active.

Screed counterbalance switch (2) is a two-position toggle switch. The bottom position of this switch is OFF, and the top position of this switch is ON. The screed counterbalance switch controls the following: the screed assist solenoid, and the screed float solenoid. The screed counterbalance function limits the downward force that the screed exerts on the asphalt mat when the right screed lift switch and the left screed lift switch are in the LOWER position.

(3) Operator station status indicator

(4) Left screed width switch

(5) Right screed width switch

(6) Screed lift switch

Each operator station contains operator station status indicator (3), left screed width switch (4), right screed width switch (5), and screed lift switch (6) .

The machine ECM uses input from operator station selector switch (1) to control operator station status indicator (3). The indicator on the active operator station is illuminated.

Left screed width switch (4) is a momentary type toggle switch. This switch has three positions. The left position is the EXTEND position. The center position is the HOLD position. The right position is the RETRACT position. The switch is spring returned to the HOLD position. The left screed width switch controls the left screed extend solenoid and controls the left screed retract solenoid.

The machine is equipped with a left screed width switch in the following locations:

  • The left instrument panel

  • The right instrument panel

  • The left screed operator station

  • The extension control box on the left side of the screed

Note: Operator station selector switch (1) determines whether the left screed width switch on the right operator station or the switch on the left operator station is active. The switch on the active instrument panel is wired in a parallel circuit with the switches on the screed.

Right screed width switch (5) is a momentary type toggle switch. This switch has three positions. The left position is the RETRACT position. The center position is the HOLD position. The right position is the EXTEND position. The switch is spring returned to the HOLD position. The right screed width switch controls the right screed extend solenoid and controls the right screed retract solenoid.

The machine is equipped with a right screed width switch in the following locations:

  • The left instrument panel

  • The right instrument panel

  • The right screed operator station

  • The extension control box on the right side of the screed

Note: Operator station selector switch (1) determines whether the right screed width switch on the right operator station or the switch on the left operator station is active. The switch on the active instrument panel is wired in a parallel circuit with the switches on the screed.

Screed lift switch (6) is a toggle switch which has three positions. The top position is the LIFT position. The center position is the HOLD position. The bottom position is the FLOAT position. The switch is spring returned from the LIFT position to the HOLD position. Operator station selector switch (1) determines whether the LIFT position of the screed lift switch on the right operator station or the switch on the left operator station is active.

The operator station selector switch (1) has no effect on the FLOAT position of the screed lift switches. The screed lift switch at both operator stations must be in the FLOAT position in order for the screed float or screed counterbalance functions to be used.

(7) Auger lift switch

(8) Hopper lift switch

(9) Truck hitch switch

Each operator station contains auger lift switch (7), hopper lift switch (8), and truck hitch switch (9) .

Auger lift switch (7) is a momentary type toggle switch. The switch has three positions. The top position is the LIFT position. The center position is the HOLD position. The bottom position is the LOWER position. The switch is spring returned to the HOLD position. The auger lift switch controls the auger raise solenoid and controls the auger lower solenoid.

Hopper lift switch (8) is a momentary type toggle switch. This switch has three positions. The top position is the LIFT position. The center position is the HOLD position. The bottom position is the LOWER position. The switch is spring returned to the HOLD position. The hopper lift switch controls the hopper raise solenoid and controls the hopper lower solenoid.

Truck hitch switch (9) is a momentary type toggle switch. This switch has three positions. The top position is the OPEN position. The center position is the HOLD position. The bottom position is the CLOSE position. The switch is spring returned to the HOLD position. The truck hitch switch controls the truck hitch open solenoid and controls the truck hitch close solenoid.

Right Side of Machine

(10) Tow point switch

Each side of the machine (right side shown, left side similar) is equipped with tow point switch (10). The tow point switch allows the operator to change the height of the tow point. This action results in a change to the angle of attack of the screed.

The tow point switches are momentary type toggle switches. These switches have three positions. The center position of these switches is the HOLD position. The top position is the INCREASE position. The bottom position is the DECREASE position. These switches are spring returned to the HOLD position. The tow point switch on the left side of the machine controls the left tow point raise solenoid and controls the left tow point lower solenoid. The tow point switch on the right side of the machine controls the right tow point raise solenoid and controls the right tow point lower solenoid.

Note: The right tow point switch at the tow point cylinder is one of two right tow point switches on the machine. The second switch is located at the right screed operator station control panel. These switches are wired in parallel. The operator station selector switch has no effect on the tow point controls. The machine is also equipped with two tow point switches on the left side.

Right Screed Operator Station

(11) Right tow point switch

(12) Right screed width switch

The right screed operator station contains the following:

  • Tight tow point switch (11)

  • Tight screed width switch (12)

Right tow point switch (11) allows the operator to change the height of the tow point, that will change the angle of attack of the screed. The right tow point switch is a momentary type toggle switch. This switch has three positions. The center position of this switch is the HOLD position. The top position is the INCREASE position. The bottom position is the DECREASE position. The switch is spring returned to the HOLD position. This switch controls the right tow point raise solenoid and controls the right tow point lower solenoid.

Note: Right tow point switch (11) on the right screed operator station control panel is one of two right tow point switches on the machine. The second switch is located near the right tow point cylinder. These switches are wired in parallel.

Right screed width switch (12) is a momentary type toggle switch.

The operator station selector switch has no effect on the screed width switches which are located on the screed.
