Damaged Lifter Bores In 3400 Series Engines Can Be Used Again {1201}

Heavy wear or damage of lifter bores in the above engines does not necessarily result in the need to install a new engine block. The same block can be used again after a 4W-4588 Sleeve (Illustration 1) is installed in the damaged bore (Illustration 2). A description of the procedure and tools necessary to install the sleeve are given in Guideline For Reusable Parts And Salvage Operations, SEBF8069, "Procedure To Repair Engine Lifter Bores".
