539 Knuckleboom Loader Caterpillar


Battery or Battery Cable - Inspect/Replace

Usage:

539 1PZ

  • Turn the engine start switch and all cab switches to the OFF position.

    1. Remove two access plates (1) in order to gain access to the batteries. The batteries are located on the right front of the machine next to the swing drive.

    1. Turn the battery disconnect switch counterclockwise into the OFF position.

    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery that is connected to the battery disconnect switch.

    1. At the battery disconnect switch, disconnect the + battery cable.

      Note: Do not allow the disconnected battery cable to contact the battery disconnect switch.

    1. Disconnect the + battery cable at the battery.

    1. Perform the necessary repairs. Replace the battery cable or the battery, as needed.

    1. Connect the + battery cable at the battery. Connect the other end of the + battery cable to the battery disconnect switch.

    1. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery that is connected to the battery disconnect switch.

    1. Turn the battery disconnect switch clockwise into the ON position.

    1. Install two access plates (1) .
