When a Classic Part is introduced, the corresponding Original Part is reviewed. If the economics of the original part is adverse and there is no potential of improving the economics of the original part, that part will be discontinued. This will leave the Classic part as the option for service replacement, which can be seen in Column 4 of the NPR.
This Special Instruction was created in order to document the reason for discontinuing the original part. The corresponding Classic part should be used in order to service the original part.
