Engine Oil Pan - Remove and Install - Engine in Chassis
Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Remove the hood. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hood - Remove".
- Drain the engine oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change".

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Attach a suitable lifting device in order to support the front of engine (1A) .

- Remove bolt (1) and bolts (2) in order to remove engine support assembly (3) .

- Remove bolts (4) in order to remove oil pan assembly (5) .
Installation Procedure
- Use a suitable lifting device in order to support the front of engine (1A) .

- Install oil pan assembly (5) with bolts (4) .

- Install engine support assembly (3) with bolt (1) and bolts (2) .
- Remove the lifting device from the engine.
- Fill the engine with oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine and Oil Filter - Change" and Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities".
End By: Install the hood. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hood - Install".
