( 1 ) | The 9U-7401 Multitach Tool Gp and the 1U-6605 Reflective Tape are part of the 9U-7400 Multitach Tool Gp . |
Test Procedure
- Stop the engine.
- Install tool (B) on the fan blade.
Note: Check for existing tape on the fan blade. More than one piece of tape will cause inaccurate readings.
- Connect the positive cable of tool (A) to the remote start terminal (1) and the negative cable to the frame ground.

- Place the magnetic base of tool (A) on the machine frame, and aim the photo pickup at the reflective tape.
- Start and operate the engine at 2370 ± 50 rpm. Monitor the hydraulic oil temperature with tool (C). Operate the machine until the oil temperature reaches 43° ± 5.6°C (110° ± 10°F).
- Read the fan speed on tool (A). The speed should be 2600 ± 50 rpm.
- Stop the engine. If the fan speed is within the specification, go to 8. If the fan speed is out of the specification, reset the fan speed according to the"Adjusting Procedure".
- Remove tool (A) and tool (B) .
Adjusting Procedure
- Remove the cap from the relief valve (2) on the fan motor.

- Loosen the locknut and turn the adjustment screw clockwise in order to increase the fan speed. Loosen the locknut and turn the adjustment screw counterclockwise in order to decrease the fan speed.
- Hold the adjustment nut, and tighten the locknut.
- Retest the fan speed, according to "Test Procedure".
