Description of Change: The special instruction contains information on changing from a segmented disc saw to a one-piece disc saw. The former design used the bolt-on segments to hold the teeth of the saw onto the disc. The new design allows the teeth to be bolted directly to the disc saw. The new disc saw is lighter in weight with a reduced rotational inertia. The tree support plate needs to be replaced in order to accommodate the new disc saw. The special instruction is available through the normal literature distribution system. The publication can also be found on the Caterpillar Service Information System (SIS).

Adaptable To: The new disc saw is effective with HF221 Felling Head (S/N: BAL114-UP), HF221 Felling Head (S/N: CDZ107-UP), HF181 Felling Head (S/N: CFG133-UP), HF222 Felling Head (S/N: CFR207-UP), and HF201 Felling Head (S/N: CKL232-UP). The new disc saw is adaptable to the machines that are listed above.
