机具回路正常操作期间，来自控制阀的回油流入机油冷却器旁通阀。 旁通阀将机油向两个方向输送回到油箱。
一部分回油流到机油冷却器。 机油流过泵和马达壳体时，回油将得到冷却。 通过壳体的机油通过滤清器 (2) 流入油箱中，然后流过回油管 (8)。
大部分回油通过冷却器旁通阀流到油箱。 流到油箱的机油流过滤清器 (3)。
当机具回路不活动时，唯一的回油是系统泄漏。 该油通过滤清器 (2) 并通过回油管 (8) 流入油箱中。
如果滤清器的滤芯被碎屑堵塞，则因油流受阻将导致滤清器内部压力升高。 压力升高将使每个滤清器中的旁通阀移动，从而使机油通过回油管 (7) 流入油箱。 当油未流经滤清器滤芯时，油中的碎屑将损坏液压系统中的部件。
