Caterpillar Machines Powered By 3116/3126 Engines
Description of Change: A new valve cover gasket is available for all 3116 / 3126 Machine Engines. The new gasket is Perfcore® material, with a sealing bead on one side, and provides better sealing than the former gasket that was made of a cork and rubber material.
Adaptable To: The new 119-2940 Valve Cover Gasket is a direct replacement for the former 105-1542 Valve Cover Gasket.
When installing the new gasket, thoroughly clean the surface of the valve cover and inlet manifold with 4C-4079 Component Cleaner or equivalant, to insure good sealing. Install the gasket dry and tighten bolts in sequence as shown in the illustration. Tighten all to a torque of 12 N·m ± 3 N ·m (9.0 lb ft ± 2.0 lb ft).
