Installation of Ladder Assembly{7254} Caterpillar

Introduction

A new stiffer ladder assembly with more resistance to vibration, plus additional necessary parts are now available from the parts department as a replacement for the existing ladder.

Necessary Parts (621E, 623E, 627E)

Installation Procedure (621E, 623E, 627E)

(A) Tank Group. (B) Quick Fill Oil Coupler (if equipped).

1. Remove the mirror, existing ladder assembly and the mounting bracket that held the ladder in position on top of the hydraulic tank.

2. Install 8W7787 Ladder Assembly (1) as shown using existing bolts and washers (2).

3. Install 2G5479 Plate (3) on 8W7785 Support Assembly (4) with four 6H1717 Bolts (5) and 5P1076 Washers.

4. Install support assembly (4) on ladder assembly (1) with one 6H1717 Bolt (6) and a 5P5479 Washer.

5. Check to make sure support assembly (4) is vertical and that plate (3) is positioned flat against the top of the hydraulic tank. Tack weld plate (3) to the hydraulic tank.

6. Complete the weld around plate (3) with a 5 mm (.20) fillet weld.

7. Reinstall the mirror that was removed earlier.

8. Clean and paint the area that was modified with weld.

Installation Procedure (631E, 637E, 631R)

(A) Tank Group. (B) Quick Fill Oil Coupler (if equipped).

1. Remove the mirror, existing ladder assembly and the mounting bracket that held the ladder in position on top of the hydraulic tank.

2. Install 8W7966 Ladder Assembly (1) as shown using existing bolts and washers (2).

3. Install 2G5479 Plate (3) on 8W7785 Support Assembly (4) with four 6H1717 Bolts (5) and 5P5479 Washers.

4. Install support assembly (4) on ladder assembly (1) with one 6H1717 Bolt (6) and a 5P5479 Washer.

5. Check to make sure support assembly (4) is vertical and that plate (3) is flat against the top of the hydraulic tank. Tank weld plate (3) to the hydraulic tank.

6. Complete the weld around plate (3) with a 5 mm (.20") fillet weld.

7. Install the existing mirror with two new 2G8579 Clamps (7) and two new 8W7967 Arms (8) as shown.

8. Clean and paint the area that was modified with weld.
