Installation of 3G1619 Ripper Arrangement (63Y, 73Y, 90G, 96H){6310}

Usage:

943 ( 3Y, 31Y, 4Z, 19Z)

Introduction

This instruction gives the procedure for installing the mounting, cylinder, hydraulic lines and ripper groups.

Reference: Service Manual, Parts Book and Operation & Maintenance Manual.

An accumulation of any flammable substance may ignite and cause personal injury. Wipe away any spilled oil or other flammable substance before cutting with an air carbon arc torch or similar tool.

NOTICE

The following welding procedures given are with low hydrogen AWS Specification E7018 Electrodes. All electrodes must be completely dry. The surfaces must be clean. Remove all foreign materials before welding. Do not weld in areas where there is a strong movement of air or in temperatures of less than 16°C (60°F).

NOTICE

When a hoist is used to lift any part or assembly, stand clear of the area. Be sure the hoist has the correct capacity to lift a heavy assembly. Approximate weights of the components and assemblies are shown in the following chart.


Necessary Parts

NOTE: The following groups are not serviced, you must order the separate parts.

Installation of Ripper Mounting Group

1. Remove four plugs from the mounting holes on each side of the machine.

2. Press one 4T0659 Pin (1) into each 4T0658 Boss (2).

3. Install each pin (1) and boss (2) assembly into the mounting holes on each side of the machine. Position the assemblies as shown.

4. Fasten each pin and boss assembly with 9G1216 Spacers (3) and 0S1566 Bolts (4).

5. Make a 7.0 mm (0.28") bevel weld along the edge of each of the four bosses (2) from point A to point B.

6. Make an 8.0 mm (0.31") fillet weld all around each boss (2).

7. Install eight 7K3422 Studs (5) in 3G1570 Carriage Assembly (6). Tighten studs to a torque of 150 ± 20 N·m (110 ± 15 lb ft).

8. Install two 7K9205 Seals (7) in each 3G1528 Block Assembly (8), with the lip out, to the depth shown.

9. Install two block assemblies (8) on lower pins (1).

10. Fasten carriage assembly (6) to blocks (8) with 2K0337 Locknuts (9).

11. Install two 3G1066 Spacers (10) on pins (1) and fasten with two 7B2289 Bolts (11). Tighten bolts to a torque of 360 ± 50 N·m (270 ± 40 lb ft).

Installation of Ripper Cylinder Group

1. In the rod end of each 3G1296 Cylinder Group (1), install one 3G0472 Bearing (2), to the depth shown. Install two 7K9203 Seals (3), with the lips out.

2. In the head end of each cylinder (1), install one 3G1587 Bearing (4), to the depth shown. Install two 7K9205 Seals (5), with the lips out.

3. Put 3G1585 Spacer (6) and head end of cylinder (1) on upper pin (C), on each side of the machine.

4. Install 3G1066 Spacers (7) and 7B2289 Bolts (8) with 7P9233 Guard (9) in place between the spacer and bolt head. Do not tighten bolts (8) at this time.

5. Install the rod end of cylinders (1) to carriage assembly (10) with 3G1583 Pin (11), 1A5964 Bolt and 2K4973 Locknut.

6. Install 8G1361 Retainer (12) over the edge of guard (9).

7. Tack weld the retainer to the frame at the dimensions shown.

8. Weld each side of retainer (12) to the frame with 6.0 mm (.24") flare groove welds at (D) and 6.0 mm (.24") fillet welds at (E).

9. Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 360 ± 50 N·m (270 ± 40 lb ft).

Installation of Ripper Hydraulic Lines Group


NOTICE

Do not let any dirt or foreign material get into the hydraulic system during assembly, connection of lines, when components are filled with fluid or during any maintenance operation. Keep the oil in the hydraulic system at the correct level to prevent pump cavatation. Clean all surfaces where parts are to be installed.


1. Install 9M4584 Connectors (1) and 2M9780 Seals, 307949 Elbows (2) and 2M9780 Seals in the lift cylinders.

2. Install 8G1357 Tube (3) on the left cylinder and 8G1358 Tube on the right cylinder.

3. Install 307972 Elbows (4) and (5) to tubes (6). (Tubes (6) are part of the 7P1098 Lines Group.)

4. Connect 7P9232 Hose (7) on each side to elbow (2) and elbow (4). Connect 7P9232 Hose (8) on each side to tube (3) and elbow (5).

5. Fasten the hoses with 8M4106 Clamps (9), 0S1619 Bolts and 9B1885 Spacers (10), 5M2894 Washers and 1D4717 Nuts (11).

Installation of Ripper

1. Place 6V1544 Film on the Serial Number Plate, below the Serial Number.

2. Install 9J4259 Tips (1) to 1U1257 Shanks (2) with 9J2258 Pin (3) and 3G9609 Retainer (4).

3. Place shanks (2) in carriage assembly (5) and fasten with 3G6049 Pin (6) and 3B4632 Cotter Pin.

Before Operating the Machine

After the assembly is complete, get the machine ready for use as shown in the Operation and Maintenance Manual.

Check the oil in the hydraulic tank and fill if necessary. Cycle the cylinders full stoke in both directions to purge the air from the lines and cylinders. Refill the hydraulic tank to the full mark. Refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual for the correct type and quantity of oil.

Check all hose and tube connections for leaks and make repairs if necessary.
