Usage:
Start By:
a. Install the steering frame lock pin. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock Pin - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
b. Release the pressure from the hydraulic system. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release" for the machine that is being serviced.
NOTICE |
---|
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose of fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil. Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system. Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. |
NOTE: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses and all tubes. This will help prevent fluid loss and this will help to prevent contaminants from entering the system.
1. Drain the oil from the hydraulic tank into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for the machine that is being serviced. The hydraulic tank capacity is 125 L (33 US gal).
2. Remove four bolts (3) and the washers from upper mounting bracket (1).
3. Remove two bolts (2) and the washers that hold upper mounting bracket (1) to the rear frame. Remove upper mounting bracket (1) from the machine.
4. Remove four bolts (4) and the washers that hold manifold assembly (5) to the hydraulic tank.
5. Disconnect hose assemblies (6), (7) and (8) from the hydraulic tank.
6. Disconnect the temperature sensor cable at electrical connector (9). Remove temperature sensor (10) from the hydraulic tank.
7. Remove the bolt and the washer that hold clamp (11) to the hydraulic tank. Remove four bolts (13) and the washers that hold tube assembly (12) to the hydraulic tank.
8. Remove four bolts (14) and the washers that hold the hydraulic tank to the lower mounting bracket.
9. Install Tooling (A) on the hydraulic tank. Attach a hoist and suitable lifting chains to Tooling (A). Remove hydraulic tank (15) from the rear frame. The weight of the hydraulic tank is 162 kg (357 lb).
