This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI31845" as the Part Number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI31845" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

The emissions label needs to be replaced on certain 3516B Electric Power Generation Engines. The existing emissions label may be incorrect.

In order to allow equitable parts availability to all participating dealers, please limit your initial parts order to not exceed 40% of dealership population. This is an initial order recommendation only, and the ultimate responsibility for ordering the total number of parts needed to satisfy the program lies with the dealer.

ACTION REQUIRED

1. Order a new emissions label.

2. Remove old label completely from engine and discard the pieces.

3. Clean engine surface with a 1:1 mixture of isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and water and a clean lint-free paper towel so that all dirt and adhesive are removed from the engine surface. Allow the surface to dry completely before installing the new label. Surface temperature should be between 15 C (59 F) and 27 C (80.6 F). Do not install new label over the old label. Layered labels compromise label adhesion and durability.

4. Install the new emissions label.

Refer to the attached Rework Procedure for details to order a new emissions label.

Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.

Rework Procedure

1. Begin at the SISWeb homepage. The address is https://sis.cat.com

2. From the SISWeb homepage, select the Engine Technical Marketing Information - TMI link.

3. Once in TMI, input the serial number of the engine into the reference number box and select "serial number" in the drop down menu.

4. Press the "Retrieve Data" button.

5. Select the "Emissions Data" link.

6. Scroll to the bottom and click the link titled, "Need emissions replacement label - Click Here!". This will direct the user to the Large Power Systems Division Homepage.

7. Click on the emissions/certification replacement link.

8. Complete dealer name and address information.

9. Complete the remaining fields highlighted with a red asterisk.

10. Select certification label as the label type. Enter the number of this Priority Program in the field titled "Reason for the replacement label request". It is also very important to have the engine serial number field completed with the correct information.

11. Complete the shipping information section of the form and click "Submit".

12. After receiving the new emissions label, install the new label according to the Action Required. Location of the label should be on the top of the front valve cover or on the engine oil cooler.
