Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.
Problem
When rerating an industrial engine requires different software to be flashed into the electronic control module, a problem can occur when new software that contains fewer ratings is flashed into an ECM that contains a larger number of ratings. The ECM could continuously reset causing the ECM to stop functioning. Normal software updates will not create this problem.
Solution
- Before the ECM is flashed with the new software in order to rerate an industrial engine, check the rating number in the system configuration parameters .
- If the rating number in the system configuration parameters contains any value except "1" set the rating number to "1".
- Flash the ECM with the new software.
- Set the rating number to the desired value.
