Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

When rerating an industrial engine requires different software to be flashed into the electronic control module, a problem can occur when new software that contains fewer ratings is flashed into an ECM that contains a larger number of ratings. The ECM could continuously reset causing the ECM to stop functioning. Normal software updates will not create this problem.

Solution

  1. Before the ECM is flashed with the new software in order to rerate an industrial engine, check the rating number in the system configuration parameters .

  1. If the rating number in the system configuration parameters contains any value except "1" set the rating number to "1".

  1. Flash the ECM with the new software.

  1. Set the rating number to the desired value.

    Note: Factory passwords are required.
