Installation of the V-PAT Bulldozer{6079}

Usage:

D6K LGP DHA
Track-Type Tractor:
D6K (S/N: DHA1-UP; NCF1-UP; HMG1-UP; FBH1-UP)

Introduction

This Special Instruction provides the procedure to install the V-PAT Bulldozer for the D6K Track-Type Tractor.

Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you fully understand the information.

Do not attempt to disassemble or assemble this machine until you read and understand the disassembly and assembly instructions. Improper disassembly and assembly procedures could result in injury or death.

Note: Clean all pins and bores in order to remove any dirt or corrosion before assembly.

Note: Lubricate all bearing surfaces of pins and bores with 5P-0960 Grease .

Note: Before, you begin this procedure attach a Do Not Operate Tag to the start switch of the machine.

  1. Loosen four bolts (49) on bracket assembly (38). Remove retainers (37) .

  1. Tighten four bolts (49) hand tight.

  1. Remove two bolts (51), retainer (36) and pin (34) from bracket assembly (38). Retain all parts for reinstallation.

  1. Remove pitch link assembly (25) from bracket assembly (38) and frame group (D). Remove two spacers (32) from bracket assembly (38) and frame group (D). Retain all parts for reinstallation.

  1. Locate blade assembly (E) .

  1. Remove two bolts (21), retainer (13) and pin (12) from blade assembly (E). Retain all parts for reinstallation.

  1. Remove two spacers (11) from blade assembly (E). Retain all parts for reinstallation.

  1. Use pin (12), bolts (21), and retainer (13) from Step 7 in order to install pitch link assembly (25) to the back of blade assembly (E). Lubricate pin (12) with 5P-0960 Grease prior to installation. Be sure spacers (11) are installed above pitch link assembly (25) and below pitch link assembly (25) .

    Note: Install pitch link assembly (25) with the grease fitting toward the left side of the machine.

    (F) Block

  1. Raise frame group (D). Place a 200 mm (8 inch) block (F) under the center of the frame. Lower frame group (D) onto block (F).

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to blade assembly.

    Note: 240-1500 Angling Blade weighs approximately 955 kg (2110 lb).

    Note: 240-1520 Angling Blade weighs approximately 1013 kg (2230).

  1. Position blade assembly (E) in front of frame group (D) with pitch link assembly (25) through the opening in frame group (D).

    (G) 7J-1309 Bearing

  1. Center bearing (G) in pitch link assembly (25). Locate pitch link assembly (25) in the center of bracket assembly (38) .

  1. Install spacers (32) on the top of the bearing and the bottom of the bearing in the pitch link assembly (25) .

  1. Install pin (34), retainer (36), and two bolts (51) in order to secure pitch link (25) to bracket assembly (38). Lubricate pin (34) with 5P-0960 Grease prior to installation.

  1. Remove retainers (37) from the front of bracket assembly (38) .

  1. Reposition retainers (37) behind bracket assembly (38) .

  1. Tighten bolts (49) to 900 ± 100 N·m (664 ± 75 lb ft).

Connection of the Tower Group

  1. Remove bolts (51), washers (52), and cap (35) from frame group (D). Retain all parts for reinstallation.

  1. Remove shims (40) from frame group (D). Retain all parts for reinstallation.

  1. Install eyebolt (C) into pin (44) .

  1. Remove pin (44) from frame group (D). Retain all parts for reinstallation.

  1. Use bolts (A), spacers B, and () cap (35) to press pin (44) into the lower sleeve. Turn bolts in equal amounts in order to press the pin into position.

    Note: During the process of pressing pin (44) into place, additional spacers (B) must be added to the bolts when thread depth is utilized.

  1. Remove bolt (23), washer (22), retainer (3), and pin (2) from blade assembly (E). Retain all parts for reinstallation.

  1. Install pin (2) with bolt (23), washer (22), and retainer (3) in order to attach cylinder (26) to blade assembly (E). Lubricate pin (2) with 5P-0960 Grease prior to installation.

  1. Repeat Step 1 through Step 5 for the other side.

  1. Remove bolts (21) and retainer (13) from blade assembly (E). Retain all parts for reinstallation.

  1. Unlock the removable side of the blade.

    1. Slightly raise the blade in order to clear the blade from the ground.

    1. Remove the cotter pin and pins (1) .

    1. Pull out bar (2) after having removed both of the retention cotter pins.

  1. Fold the removable side of the blade. Place the end of bar (2) in the hole at the top left corner of the blade and push in order to fold the blade.

  1. Place bar (2) and pins (1) as shown in Illustration 50 in order to lock the removable side of the blade.

Procedure to Unfold the Blade

  1. Remove pins (1) and bar (2) in order to unlock the removable side of the blade.

  1. Unfold the removable side of the blade. Place the end of bar (2) in the hole at the top left corner of the blade and push in order to unfold the blade.

  1. Lock the removable side of the blade.

    1. Place bar (2) at the rear of the blade and attach with two cotter pins.

    1. Install pins (1) in order to secure the blade in the working position.
