    Note: Ensure that the shoulder of the impeller is against the step in the shaft. Impeller (30) has left-hand threads.

  1. Place shaft (28) into a soft jawed vise. Apply Tooling (H) to the threads that are on shaft (28). Install impeller (30). Use Tooling (E) to tighten impeller (30) to a torque of 103 ± 13 N·m (76 ± 10 lb ft).

    Note: Impeller (30) has left-hand threads.

  2. Install port plate (32) onto shaft (28).

    Note: The hole in port plate (32) for shaft (28) is smaller than the hole in plate (29).

  3. Install spacer (33) onto shaft (28).

    Note: The length of spacer (33) is 18.0 mm (0.71 inch).

  4. Install one half of seal assembly (34) into body (21).

  5. Install one half of seal assembly (34) onto shaft (28).

  6. Install sleeve (35) onto shaft (28).

    Note: The length of sleeve (35) is 22.8 mm (0.89 inch).

  7. Position shaft assembly (28) into body (21).

    Note: Ensure that the locating pin on plate (32) is engaged into body (21).

  8. Use Tooling (C) to install bearing (20) into bearing housing (13).

  9. Use Tooling (G) to install retaining ring (19) into bearing housing (13).

  10. Install bearing housing (13) and shims (15) onto body (21). Tighten bolts (14) to a torque of 6 ± 1 N·m (53 ± 9 lb in).

  11. Use Tooling (G) to install retaining ring (18) on shaft (28).

  12. Install ring (31) into body (21).

  13. Use Tooling (J) to check the height of impeller (30). The height of the impeller should be 0.11 mm to 0.16 mm (0.004 inch to 0.006 inch) below the edge of ring (31).

    Note: To adjust the height of the impeller, remove bearing housing (13) and add shims. To adjust the height of the impeller, remove bearing housing (13) and remove shims (15).

  14. Install plate (29) on shaft (28).

  15. Install O-ring seal (27) on body (21). Apply Tooling (K) to the O-ring seal.

  16. Install body (21) onto ring (31). Install bolts (22) and tighten to a torque of 6 ± 1 N·m (53 ± 9 lb in).

  17. Install cover (16) on the bearing housing. Install bolts (17) and tighten to a torque of 1.9 ± 0.2 N·m (17 ± 2 lb in).

  18. Use Tooling (C) to install bearing (12) into body (7).

  19. Use Tooling (G) to install retaining ring (11) into body (7).

  20. Install oil seal (10) in body (7).

  21. Apply Tooling (H) to the threads that are on shaft (28). Install impeller (25) onto the shaft. Tighten the impeller to a torque of 103 ± 13 N·m (76 ± 10 lb ft).

    Note: Impeller (25) has right-hand threads.

  22. Install one half of seal assembly (24) onto shaft (28).

  23. Install one half of seal assembly (24) in body (7).

  24. Install sleeve (23) onto shaft (28).

    Note: The length of sleeve (23) is 33.4 mm (1.32 inch).

  25. Install O-ring seal (26) on body (9). Apply Tooling (K) to the O-ring seal.

  26. Install body (7) onto body (9). Install bolts (8) and tighten to a torque of 6 ± 1 N·m (53 ± 9 lb in).

  27. Rotate shaft (28) by hand.

  28. Install the gaskets, the plate, and manifold (6) onto the auxiliary water pump. Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 22 ± 3 N·m (16 ± 2 lb ft).

  29. Install the O-ring seal on guide pin (4). Apply Tooling (K) to the O-ring seal. Install the guide pin and tighten to a torque of 22 ± 3 N·m (16 ± 2 lb ft).

    Note: Some older models have a key in the shaft, newer models do not have a key.

  30. If necessary, install key (3) on the shaft.

  31. Use Tooling (A) to install drive gear (2). Apply Tooling (L) to the threads of nut (1). Install the washer and nut (1). Tighten nut (1) to a torque of 40 ± 5 N·m (30 ± 4 lb ft).

End By:

  1. Install the auxiliary water pump.
