Permanent Magnet Pilot Excited Generator

(1) Pilot Exciter Armature Stator

Note: On permanent magnet pilot excited generators, pilot exciter armature stator (1) must be removed before the generator is separated from the engine. This prevents damaging the permanent magnet or the shaft due to the small clearance between the pilot exciter stator and the rotor.

    (1) Terminal Strips

    (2) Engine Harness

  1. Disconnect the engine harness wires from terminal strips (1) and the control panel. Remove engine harness (2) from the generator enclosure.

    (10) Bolts

    (11) Bolts

  1. Attach a hoist to the generator. The point of attachment and the weight vary with the size of the generator. A strap must be used on smaller generators when a shackle is not provided.

  1. Remove bolts (10) which fasten the generator to the base.

  1. Remove bolts (11) which fasten the generator housing to the flywheel housing.

  1. Separate the generator from the engine. Remove the generator.
