Fan Motor Speed (Hydraulic and Radiator Cooling) - Test and Adjust

- Position the machine on level ground.
- Stop the engine.
- Install a multitach onto the fan. This will be used in order to monitor the fan speed.
- Start the engine.
- Place the machine controls at the following settings:
- Digging mode
- Gain/Response setting 2 (normal)
- Engine speed dial "10"
- AEC switch in position 1
Reference: Make reference to Testing And Adjusting, "Engine Performance - Test" for engine rpm settings.
- Digging mode
- Increase the hydraulic oil temperature to 55° ± 5°C (131° ± 9°F).
- Press ID key (4) on the keypad.

- Select "SERVICE MODE TOGGLE" from the ID menu by pressing "5" on the keypad.

- Enter the password "4646" and press OK key (1) .
- Use the right key or left key (2) in order to select "ON" when you are prompted. Press OK key (1). The machine is now in the service mode.
- Press menu key (3) .
- Select "SERVICE OPTIONS" from the main menu by pressing "4" on the keypad.

- Select "PERFORM CALIBRATION" from the menu options by pressing "2" on the keypad.

- Use the right key or left key (2) until "FAN SPEED OVERRIDE" is shown on the display.

- Press OK key (1) in order to select the calibration.
- Press OK key (1) again in order to start the calibration.
- Press the right key or left key (2) until the percentage that is shown on the display is "100%".

- The fan speed that is shown on the multitach should be within the following ranges:

Table 2 Cooling Fan RPM     Standard     (900 ±20)     High Ambient (1)     (800 ±20)     Show/hide table( 1 ) The high ambient fan has a larger diameter and lower RPM than the standard cooling fan.
- If the fan speed is not within specifications, perform Step 19.a through Step 19.b.
- Loosen locknut (6) of flow compensator valve (5) .

(7) Setscrew
- Turn setscrew (7) until the fan speed is within specifications. Turn setscrew (7) clockwise in order to increase the fan speed or turn the setscrew counterclockwise in order to decrease the fan speed.
- Once the fan speed is set, press OK key (1) in order to finish the test.
