Location of the steering and brake pump

The hood is raised. The battery box is opened. The access panel is removed.

The hydraulic pump is a two-section gear pump. The hydraulic pump consists of an implement pump and a steering and brake pump. The hydraulic pump is connected to the hydrostatic pump. The hydrostatic pump is connected to the rear of the engine flywheel housing. The steering and brake pump is the section that is closest to the access panel.

The drive gear (1) is rotating counterclockwise when the rotation of the drive gear is viewed from the drive end. The idler gear (3) meshes with the drive gear (1) . The idler gear is rotating clockwise. The rotation of the two gears creates a partial vacuum. The partial vacuum is created at the pump inlet as the gear teeth separate. This draws the oil from the hydraulic tank. Oil enters the pump into cavity (4) . The turning of the two gears causes the low pressure oil from cavity (4) to move around the inner pump housing to cavity (2) . As the teeth mesh at the outlet port, the oil is forced out of the gear pump.
