3512B and 3516B Engine Supplement for and 784C,, 785C and and 785C HAA Off-Highway Truck/Tractors Caterpillar

Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Chock the front wheels and the rear wheels. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, SENR1500, "Wheel Chocks (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".

2. Install the truck body retaining cable. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, SENR1500, "Truck Body Retaining Cable - Remove and Install".

1. Open the rear hood.

2. Open the front hood assembly. Install Tool (A) to the front hood assembly, as shown.

3. Position two suitable lifting slings around the rail assembly, as shown. Attach Tool (B) to Tool (A) and secure the two lifting slings and Tool (B) to a hoist.

4. Remove cotter (1) and the washers from prop assembly (2).

5. Remove seven bolts (3) and the washers from the front hood assembly.

6. Remove two bolts (4) and the washers from the right side of the front hood assembly.

   Note: Use Tool (B) (not shown) in order to level the front hood assembly before the front hood assembly is removed from the front support assembly.

7. Repeat Step 6 for the left side of the front hood assembly and remove the front hood assembly. The weight of the front hood assembly is 159 kg (350 lb).

Installation Procedure

1. Install Tool (A) to the front hood assembly, as shown.

2. Position two suitable lifting slings around the rail assembly, as shown. Attach Tool (B) to Tool (A) and secure the two lifting slings and Tool (B) to a hoist. Use Tool (B) (not shown) in order to level the front hood assembly before the front hood assembly is removed from the front support assembly. The weight of the front hood assembly is 159 kg (350 lb).

3. Install two bolts (4) and the washers on the right side of the front hood assembly.

4. Repeat Step 3 for the left side of the front hood assembly.

5. Install seven bolts (3) and the washers to the front hood assembly.

6. Install cotter (1) and the washers on prop assembly (2). Close the front hood assembly.

7. Close the rear hood assembly.

End By:

1. Remove the truck body retaining cable. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, SENR1500, "Truck Body Retaining Cable - Remove and Install".

2. Remove the front wheel chocks and the rear wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, SENR1500, "Wheel Chocks (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
