Rollover Protective Structure (ROPS) - Inspect

- Tighten the bolts (1) through (6) that hold the ROPS to the platform. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 460 ± 60 N·m (339 ± 44 lb ft). Tighten the bolts (1) through (6) on either side and then repeat the sequence.
Note: Apply oil to all ROPS bolt threads before you install the bolts. Failure to apply oil to the bolt threads can result in improper bolt torque.
- Repeat step 1.a for the other side.
- Tighten the bolts (7) to a torque of 460 ± 60 N·m (339 ± 44 lb ft). Then repeat the sequence.
- Tighten the bolts (8) that hold the platform to the frame to a torque of 425 ± 50 N·m (314 ± 36 lb ft). Then repeat the sequence.
- Operate the machine on a rough surface. Replace the ROPS mounting supports if the ROPS emits a noise. Replace the ROPS mounting supports if the ROPS rattles.
Do not straighten the ROPS. Do not repair the ROPS by welding reinforcement plates to the ROPS.
Consult your Caterpillar dealer for repair of any cracks in the ROPS.
