Truck Payload Measurement System (TPMS)

Usage:

784B 5RK
Note: On a truck that is equipped with the Vital Information Management System (VIMS), this function is controlled by the VIMS.

Truck Payload Measurement System Dash Display - This liquid crystal display (LCD) indicates the weight of the material that is located in the truck. The weight is displayed in tons or the weight is displayed in metric tonnes. Refer to Service Manual, SENR4733, "Truck Payload Measurement System (with Real Time Clock)" for additional information on changing the units.

The Payload Operator Display (POD) - This will display a service code if a malfunction is detected in the system. If a malfunction is indicated, a service code such as "F01" will be displayed. This display informs the operator that a machine system requires attention. The problem should be reported in order to allow maintenance to take appropriate action.

NOTICE

Suspension cylinder service code should be checked as soon as possible. Continued operation of a truck with a suspension cylinder service code indication could cause mechanical damage to the truck.

With all other Truck Payload Measurement System (TPMS) service code indications the truck operation can continue until it is convenient to repair the malfunction.

Load Indicator Lights - One red light and one green light indicate the status of the external load indicator lights.

External Load Indicator Lights - The external load indicator lights are the external red lights and the green lights that are located on each side of the truck.

These indicators inform the operator of the loader and the operator of the truck when the load has reached target payload weight. The external lights are only active during loading.

During loading, the green lights will continue to be on, until the payload weight reaches 95% of the target weight. The green light signals the loader operator to continue loading.

The red light will flash if the predicted weight of the next loader pass will be over 95% of the target weight. This flashing indicates that the next loader pass should be the last pass. The red light will not always flash. The green lights may directly change to red lights. A constant red light indicates a measured payload of 95% or more of the target weight.

The loader operator should stop loading when the red light remains on.

Refer to Service Manual, SENR4733, "Truck Payload Measurement System (with Real Time Clock)".

Switches of the TPMS

ON (1) - Move the switch to the ON position in order to activate the TPMS.

OFF (2) - Move the switch to the OFF position in order to deactivate the TPMS.

TEST (3) - Move the momentary rocker switch to the TEST position. Hold the switch in this position in order to display a test of the POD, an external lamp test and a test of the load indicator lights. The display will cycle through the data. An arrow will point to the type of information that is being displayed. The display will show the accumulation of the total weight that was hauled. The display should also show the total number of cycles since the last time that the TPMS was cleared.

Reset Totals to Zero - The totals can be reset to zero by the operator. Move the switch to the TEST position and hold until the total cycles are displayed.

Move the hoist lever in order to raise the position of the body. Hold the lever in this position for three seconds. This allows the operator to reset these totals to zero at the beginning of a shift. During the downloading and the clearing of the data that is stored in the memory, the totals will also be reset to zero.

Data Communication Port - The data communication port is used to connect a laptop computer in order to download the cycle data. This procedure is described in the documentation of the software package SERD0032. The receptacle that is used for the connection of a laptop computer is located behind the operator's seat.

Note: Another data communication port is located at the ground level controls.
