Removal Of 4P-6407 Film From The Generator Set Control (GSC) Of The Electronic Modular Control Panel II (EMCP II){4490, 7451}

Usage:

SR4 Generators So Equipped

Introduction

The 4P-6407 Film must be removed carefully from the GSC to avoid damaging the keypad that is beneath the film. Some adhesive on the rear of the film overlaps the outer edges of the keypad. Rapidly peeling the film off can tear the keypad from the GSC. Use the following removal and installation procedures to reduce the chance of damaging the keypad.

4P-6407 Film
(1) Notch. (2) Keypad Area.

GSC Without Film
(3) Notch. (4) Keypad.

Removal Procedure

1. Before peeling the 4P-6407 Film from the GSC, use a sharp scraper to cut the adhesive between the film and the keypad. The sharp scraper can be a pen knife, a razor scraper or similar tool.

2. Slowly begin peeling the 4P-6407 Film from the GSC.

3. When peeling nears keypad (4), press down on the corners of keypad area (2) to reduce the peeling force that is applied to keypad (4).

Installation Procedure

1. Remove the backing from the film.

2. Before placing the film, align notch (1) of the film with notch (3) of the GSC. Alignment of the notches assures that the openings on the film align correctly with the GSC.

3. When aligned correctly, lay the film down on the GSC. To secure the film, apply light hand pressure to the entire surface of the film.
