Service Magazine, SEPD0631, 27 May 2002, "The Part Numbers for the Electronic Controls Have Changed {7600}". Disregard the information in the article that is listed above. Refer to the information in the following article.

Certain Off-Highway Truck/Tractors utilize Electronic Control Modules (ECM) for the braking system and for the transmission systems. Each ECM can be updated with the flash procedure. You may purchase an unprogrammed ECM. You must purchase a Service Gp. A Service Gp is an ECM that has been preprogrammed. Refer to the following tables for the correct replacement part numbers.

Use Table 1 for the following machines. (S/N: 9XS1-80; 5SS1-602; 6YS1-403; 7CS1-808; 8AS1-514; AFS1-78; AGC1-715; AGY1-80)

Table 1
Traction Control System (TCS)     Automatic Retarder Control (ARC)     Integrated Brake Control (IBC)     Transmission Control
Unprogrammed ECM     172-9391      (1)      (1)     172-9391
Software Gp (2)     199-5085     199-5082 (1)     199-5079 (1)     218-4865

( 1 ) Optional attachment software may be downloaded from the Service Information System (SIS). Updates may be flashed to an ECM with optional attachment software that is installed. Even though optional attachment software may be downloaded, the software cannot be flashed into an unprogrammed ECM.
( 2 ) The software is only available through the SIS.
( 3 ) The Service Gp is an ECM that is preprogrammed.

Use Table 2 for the following machines. (S/N: 9XS81-UP; 5SS603-UP; 6YS404-UP; 7CS809-UP; 8AS515-UP; AFS79-UP; AGC716-UP; AGY81-UP)

( 1 ) Download attachment software and software updates from the Service Information System (SIS). Do not flash attachment software into an unprogrammed ECM.
( 2 ) The software is only available through the SIS.
( 3 ) The Service Gp is an ECM that is preprogrammed.
